Account Manager, Platform Distribution Sales

The Disney Platform Distribution team is seeking an Account Manager, Platform Distribution Sales, who will be an outstanding addition to our team, which has responsibility for distribution of content for the best brands in the business including ABC, ESPN, Disney+, and Hulu. Our team works with leading media companies like Apple, Samsung, Comcast, Charter, Twitter, and many more. Be a part of the team that negotiates complex agreements for retransmission consent, linear distribution, TV everywhere, video on-demand, subscription video on-demand, direct-to-consumer, and social media licensing on behalf of Disney Media Distribution.
The right person for this role has proven negotiation, communication and analytical skills and is an individual that can manage various responsibilities of content licensing and audience growth partnerships – business development, executing partnership strategies, managing processes, understanding contractual compliance – as well as successfully managing accounts with internal constituents, including Content, Marketing, Technology, Finance and Legal departments to successfully drive TWDC’s content distribution priorities. Finally, they/she/he thinks big, learn quickly, and approach everything with enthusiasm.
Responsibilities:
Manages end-to-end account support for assigned accounts; guides customer decision-makers and influencers across a variety of functional areas
Owns key provisions / items (e.g., owns billing relationship section for DTC deals) for assigned smaller accounts
Collaborate closely with distribution partners to support all stages of the distribution lifecycle (e.g. subscriber acquisition, engagement/retention, technical cooperation, joint marketing initiatives, roadmap planning, etc.)
Cultivate relationships in partner organizations to influence decisions
Assists in growing new business opportunities across assigned accounts
Required experience:
At least 5 years of sales, partnership, business development or business affairs experience
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
Strong understanding of the platform distribution industry and familiarity with the Disney Media Distribution sales process
Ability to prioritize, identify problems, quickly devise feasible solution options
Ability to conduct research on distribution developments, services and monitor competitive activities, while identifying needs and interests of customers to drive new business
Capable of cultivating relationships with personnel in affiliate organizations to influence content purchasing decisions
Participate in negotiations with assigned accounts and potential new entrants
Collaborate with business units across The Walt Disney Company and coordinate communication among the respective constituencies
Preferred Experience
Media industry experience
Deal negotiation experience preferred
Advanced ability to transmit and receive complex information
Track record of sales success; preferably in the media distribution industry
Self-starter who can set personal objectives for sales call activity, follow-ups and ongoing correspondence with affiliate organizations
#DISNEYPLATFORMDISTRIBUTION
The hiring range for this position in Bristol, CT is $126,800 - $154,800 per year. The hiring range for this position in NYC, NY is $132,800 - $162,200 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
