Overview

As an Architecture Intern with Walt Disney World, you will support the Architecture team at Facility Asset Management in researching, creating, documenting, and enhancing the built environments that bring Disney stories to life. This internship offers hands‑on experience across each phase of design, allowing you to learn from industry professionals while contributing to real projects that impact the Guest experience across Walt Disney World property.

You’ll assist with research, drafting, field verification, and coordination tasks while gaining exposure to multidisciplinary collaboration, regulatory requirements, creative problem‑solving, and the unique design culture that defines Disney. Supervision for NCARB experience hours by a licensed architect included.

Responsibilities

  • Existing Conditions Research — Assist in gathering and organizing documentation, including historical documents, field measurements, photos, and notes.

  • Building Information Modeling— Support the preparation of architectural drawings and models under the guidance of licensed architects.

  • Field Data Collection — Participate in on‑site visits to verify existing conditions and update base information.

  • Project Documentation — Assist in organizing project files, updating logs, and preparing close‑out materials.

  • Meeting Participation — Attend design reviews to observe workflows, take notes, and learn from multidisciplinary discussions.

  • Time & Task Management — Maintain awareness of deadlines and communicate potential conflicts to your leader.

  • Exposure to Design Strategy — Learn how Disney approaches design excellence, sustainability, and guest‑focused solutions.

Basic Qualifications

  • AutoCAD Proficiency — Foundational experience drafting architectural drawings.

  • Revit and BIM Proficiency — Foundational experience with drafting software and familiarity with BIM

  • Microsoft Office Skills — Comfortable using Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

  • Communication Skills — Ability to clearly express ideas and collaborate with team members.

  • Interest in Architecture & Design — Curiosity about architectural design, construction processes, and themed environments.

  • Availability — Willingness to work varying shifts based on project needs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • GPA Requirement — Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

  • Creative Problem‑Solving — Interest in exploring innovative and sustainable design ideas.

  • Team Collaboration — Experience working on group design or studio projects. Familiarity with Bluebeam preferred.

  • Field Experience — Any prior exposure to construction sites or field verification is helpful.

  • Portfolio— Please provide a portfolio that highlights your studio work, collaboration, and graphic skills.

Education

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree or Post Graduate degree at an accredited 4 year college or university majoring in Architecture

  • Junior, Senior or Graduate student status by arrival date

Preferred Education

Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher (Note: Please, no rounding) as shown on a transcript.

Eligibility Requirements & Program Information

  • Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class at time of application OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.  

  • Be at least 18 years of age

  • Possess unrestricted work authorization

  • Current Disney Interns, College, International, or Culinary Program Participants:  You may only work for ONE consecutive year (12 months) in any combination of an internship and/or program.   

Additional Information

  • Be compliant with The Disney Look appearance guidelines

  • Fully available from Monday through Friday with occasional weekends or holidays pending project need, up to 40 hours each week, early mornings or late nights are a possibility, bulk of work time will be during traditional 8am-5pm

  • Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work

The pay rate for this role in Orlando FL is $31 for undergraduate student per hour and $36 for graduate student per hour.
