How will you contribute to our magical experience?
The Content Editor will be focused on writing and publishing sports content across the main pages of ESPN.COM, a global digital sports platform.
The role involves creating original stories, translating articles, and coordinating with international editorial teams. The candidate should have strong writing skills in Spanish, working proficiency in English, a broad understanding of the sports landscape (especially football), and a basic ability to handle photo and video assets. This role offers the opportunity to gain experience in a fast-paced, collaborative and global digital newsroom.
The Content Editor will be responsible for:
- Writing original sports articles in Spanish, with a focus on football and general knowledge of other sports like rugby, hockey, tennis, padel, and motorsports.
- Translating articles and short-form content between Spanish and English, as needed.
- Publishing articles and multimedia content across ESPN.COM’s homepages and section fronts.
- Coordinating with editorial teams in Europe, Brazil, Mexico/Central America, and the U.S. to align on shared content.
- Selecting appropriate photos and performing basic editing to support written content.
- Uploading and embedding video content using basic video editing and CMS tools.
- Assisting in the planning and scheduling of homepage and section content.
- Following editorial guidelines and supporting senior editors with daily content needs.
What we need from you to be part of this story:
- Previous experience developed in sports media, journalism or digital content production (2 years minimum within Communication and/or Sports Marketing industries preferred).
- Willingness to work flexible hours – role is set to work from 4am till 12pm at Pilar offices (might include weekends and/or holidays depending on the sports calendar).
- Excellent writing and editorial skills in Spanish; strong command of grammar and journalistic style.
- Working proficiency in English (reading, writing, and verbal communication).
- Attention to detail and ability to work under deadlines.
- Solid news judgment and understanding of sports audience interests.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills in a multicultural team setting.
- Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced digital newsroom.
- experience using Content Management Systems (CMS) for web publishing.
- Basic knowledge of photo editing tools (e.g., Photoshop, Canva, or similar).
- Basic knowledge of video editing and embedding tools (e.g., Premiere, CapCut, or CMS-integrated platforms).
- Understanding of SEO and digital content best practices (preferred but not mandatory).
- Passion for sports, particularly football, and general knowledge of multiple sports (rugby, hockey, tennis, padel, motorsports)
- Team player with a proactive and curious mindset
